    Back from Hiatus

    November 9, 2020 /

Hi, everyone! Been a while, huh? Anywho, since I’m 4 months out from the release of my debut novel (can you hear me screaming in excitement?), I figured I’d revive this blog! Posts will be infrequent, but I’ll do my best. 😀 Let’s talk covers! I’m getting a lot of awesome feedback on my cover– understandably, it’s absolutely gorgeous!! I was incredibly lucky to have a huge part in the cover creation process. It went a little something like this. First, I sent my publisher a Pinterest board of my favorite middle grade covers. I aimed for ones that were hand-drawn, with bold colors and an adventurous-looking main character. I…

    WordPress.com vs WordPress.org

    June 15, 2018 /

Okay, let’s talk websites. As an author, having a website is imperative to our success. Maybe not when we first get going, but once we have books for sale, a lovely website matters. If you’re trying to discover how to create a website, I want to offer fair warning. AVOID WORDPRESS.COM.  Before I get into this, let me clarify for any non-tech people in the house. My own tech experience is limited to about two years of dinking around in website design, so I’m no expert either. 😛 But as I’ve recently realized, WordPress.com is NOT WordPress.org (hereafter called “WordPress”).  WordPress is more confusing, and that’s for a few, key reasons.…

    Finding Fun Ways to Exercise

    June 1, 2018 /

Exercising bores me. It’s not that I hate it. I just can’t ever find the motivation to, you know, do it. I want to be healthy, but I also don’t want to interrupt my life just to run on a treadmill. Anyone else like that? Don’t worry, this is a No Judgement website. 😉 You can admit it. Of course, not exercising is a guarantee for an unhappy, unhealthy life. So how do people who hate exercising find the energy and motivation to work out? Here’s my tips:

    On Breaking Up (Critique Groups)

    March 23, 2018 /

Guys, I went through a break-up last week. It was everything you’d expect; messy, dramatic, exhausting, sad. I mean, this one happened with my writing critique group, but still. It boiled down to a difference in management style. The original creator of the group preferred a solid structure and order. I like a more free-flowing, “everyone offers opinions” option. Eventually, we were going to fracture. It happened last Thursday, and it was not pretty.

WHO’S HAPPY?? Ha. Hahaha. I know, I know. Life is hard, the world kind of sucks, and we’re writers. Sooo…. yeah. I’m very, very fortunate. My life is pretty awesome, aside from putting my dog down last month. (Sorry for the blog post delays, btw. That kind of ruined my motivation to do much of anything. >.> ) But not many people, especially millennials, can say the same. A lot of us are wrestling with depression and anxiety and a plethora of other issues. This isn’t new, and millennials aren’t the only ones feeling blue. (HA I rhymed. Anyway.) I’ve spent the last few weeks helping several dear friends cope…

    When love isn’t enough

    February 15, 2018 /

Today, we put down our nine-year-old dog. Yesterday, my sister told me she’s “two words from crying.” She said it with a watery voice, and I had to choose my next words carefully so they weren’t the two she hoped not to hear. Two words from crying. Not me. I’ve heard two certain words so many times in the last few weeks, they lost meaning. No, “I’m sorry,” didn’t do it for me. For me, it took three words: “He loved you.”
